Special Design Projects

Special Design Projects involve a high degree of creativity and planning. They incorporate the skills and creativity of artists, crafters and designers and involve a high degree of innovation, co-ordination and technical expertise. These projects typically draw positive media attention. Leonard Shapiro conceptualises, designs and directs projects involving crafters, artists and designers which result in large scale craft or art works being created for installation in specific architectural spaces. The works are often designed in collaboration with the client to a specific theme and the outcome may be a single or series of large works.

In many cases, Shapiro will run a directed design-facilitation workshop in order that the artists, crafters or designers contribute directly to the imagery and design solution. In this way, it is ensured that the participants own imagery is incorporated into the work.

Typically, these projects are designed for corporate clients as well as government departments. The works may be presented to an appropriate recipient as a commemorative gift or award by a representative of a large corporate or government department.

Shapiro has extensive experience in managing the logistics of such projects and ensures that the works are executed to a very high standard with attention to detail and finish.
